Lena Karin graduated from the Gorodets Art School, and then she attended the Kharkov State Academy of Design and Arts. When attending the Academy, she developed different creative photo projects for glossy magazine and popular singers.

  • She moved to Moscow in 1997
  • Employed as a reporting photographer for the Australasia Magazine, Karin was engaged in production fashion projects. She shot cover models for the Burda Moden Publishing House and implemented art projects for Playboy and Mary Claire magazines jointly with Eduard Katykhin
  • 1998: the first solo exhibition at the Et Cetera Theater, Novyi Arbat, Moscow
  • 1999-2001: Karin is employed as the art director for the team of the Interphoto International Festival hosted by Canon Russia. She hosted round tables and seminars for beginning photographers at the festival and was one of the Russian speakers on the subjects related to digital photography
  • 2000-2002: director of the Graphics Department, Art. Lebedev Group
  • 2000: Lena Karin takes part in the digital art exhibition hosted by the Moscow House of Photography under the auspices of Olga Sviblova. Two more authors take part in the exhibition: Alexey Soloviyov and Artemy Lebedev.
  • 2001: Lena Karin becomes a member of the Guild of Advertising Photographers of Russia
  • In 2002, she opens up her own Pro-Obraz Creative Agency, which supervised over the organization of the 4th Block International Festival of Eco-Posters and Graphics
  • 2002-2005: Lena Karin works as the director for the 4th Block Festival and holds a series of exhibitions in Moscow under the aegis of the Union of Russian Designers. As many as 53 countries take part in the large-scale project
  • 2002: Lena Karin makes «the Moscow Second Hand», a special project about people, railway stations and streets under the auspices of the Moscow Government
  • 2003: Lena Karin’s second solo exhibition. «The Moscow Second Hand» project was exhibited at her solo exhibition hosted in the Olympic Sports Complex
  • 2004: Lena Karin makes a reporting project entitled «What do you do? How are you?» about Russian women’s life and work. The University of Hannover, Gender Studies, purchased the project to feature it in a book
  • 2004: Lena Karin’s third solo exhibition in Hannover, Germany
  • 2004: Lena Karin wins the Grand Prix of the Master Moscow International Photo Contest, and the title of the best advertising photographer in Russia is conferred to her for a series of photographs she took for the International Moscow Bank’s calendar.
  • Lena Karin has been engaged in calendar projects for different clients since then. She ironically calls her photos “reporting production.” She takes part in different exhibitions held by the Russian Union of Art Photographers
  • She is invited as a jury member to different photo contests including international ones
  • 2005: Lena Karin organizes her training center for young photographers and holds seminars and master classes in Moscow and other cities
  • In 2005, Lena Karin also patented her stepwise technique used for transferring photographic images to cuttings and created her own line of designer clothes. Designer’s phototectures© laid the basis for her collection
  • Lena Karin has been taking part in the Moscow Fashion Week on a regular basis since 2006. She opens up her Fashion House in the center of Moscow
  • 2007: Lena Karin wins the «Luxurious Venice» contest of accessories and gets a scholarship for studying at the European Design Institute (Istituto Europeo di Design)
  • Since 2007, Lena Karin has been a permanent jury member for different contests for young Russian designers
  • 2008: Lena Karin opens up her interior decoration art workshop
  • 2009: Lena Karin begins cooperation with the FotoLoft Gallery, Winzavod Contemporary Art Center
